Experience the thrill of having a hawk drop 70’ from the canopy above and land gently on your glove while you learn about falconry and the lives of birds of prey. As a result of participating in this one-of-a-kind, hands-on falconry program, you will…
- Learn about the differences amongst the different types of hawks (Buteos, Parabuteos and Accipiters) and how they are each trained and flown in falconry
- learn, and apply, the Five Skills of the Falconer as you help us to train/prepare our hawks for free flight through the surrounding woodland landscape.
- be able to demonstrate the proper technique as you call one of our free-flying hawks to your outstretched glove and then cast it off again into the nearby treetops during your 30-minute walk in the woods
